GIVING BACK

Here at Sleepy Creek we love to give back to our community!!!!!

In 2006, I came across an organization called NEADS - Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans I spoke with Paula Ricard (Puppy Program Coordinator) and I decide to Donate an F1 Mini Labradoodle to their organization (Their FRIST LABRADOODLE).

Debbie,
Thank you very much for contacting me about a possible puppy donation. I have been very interested in trying a labradoodle puppy in our program for sometime now. I know that other service dog organizations are using them and I feel that they might be a good fit for our clients as well. Thanks you again. Paula Ricard

Debbie, The puppy has been named McGee. He's acclimated to the nursey just fine and is enjoying his playmates - 2 goldens and 3 poodles. I did a temperment test on him last week, he did well. McGee will spend about 4 more weeks here at the Early Learning Center being socialized and introduced to foundation service dog task. When we feel he is ready he will be placed with a full-time puppy rasier or in one of our prison programs where he will recieve more socialization and traininguntill he is ready for advance training. Normally puppies enter advance training about 1 1/2 years old. We won't know what kind of client he will be placed with untill he comes back for advance training. The socialization and obedience training is the same regardless of weather he ends up being trained as a hearing dog, service dog, or social dog. You picked a great pup for us! Thanks again! Paula

Just wanted to let you know Mcgee was placed in the York Correctional Center in CT. He has been busy learning new task.

November 12, 2007 Everyone hard work has paid off and McGee has been matched !!!!!! McGee has been matched as a hearing dog for Erica Bolanis. They will be working together and will graduate June 2008.

Here in Morgan Co, their is a major problem with stray dogs and cat. Our local Animal Control and Humaine Society gets very little funding. We were happy to help them out with a cash donation to make the lifes of the animals they care for a little better !!!
